Say Yes To The Music

Image
What is good, my viewers! When it came to music, I searched on YouTube for "royalty-free music scary". Looking through the videos that popped up, none of them really stood out. So, I decided to click on them and look through the recommended videos to look for music that I liked. There was this one song that I liked, it fitted with my film a lot. However, I did not realize that it was already copyrighted. I heard from my friend that it took them weeks for them to contact them back for permission. So, I decided not to go through with emailing them. After that bummer, I went to look for other songs that had a similar vibe to the song I liked. I then saw another similar song, but it also had a thing in its bio saying to contact them for use. Since I did not really like how it sounded, I decided to look for another song to use. I had my sister help me, but she barely did anything to do so. She found a song or two, but it was nothing I was envisioning. Also, the songs she found sai

Peer review

What is UP, guys? When I finally finished my final project, I got my sister to review my film and give me her input. When she watched it, she actually gave me good feedback. Firstly, she liked the transitions between scenes. For some scenes, she could barely see the cut between scenes. She also found the placement of the title sequence very clever. Saying how the way they were presented was eye-catching and easy to read. Also, throughout the film, she made small comments on how the camera was pretty steady. She continued by saying how she liked the diverse use of camera shots and how they flowed with the rest of the scenes. Near the end, she liked how there was a comedy aspect to it. Although I did not really intend it, she said how it gives it more character since it would have been cringe if it was an actual person playing that part. Which, I agree to, and would also feel like it would have been out of place since I was looking for a more supernatural kind of vibe. However, there was

Re-Editing Blog: Finishing Touches

What's up, gang. When it came to editing, I had to remove all of the scrapped scenes that I did not like. Then, I replaced them with the clips I redid. To call it tedious was an understatement, it was rough. Not only did it mess up my title screen, but it also messed up with the transitions I had. So, it was very infuriating to redo all of that as well. As I edited my project, I got the gist of it and began mindlessly editing. That way, I could trick myself into thinking that it is going way faster than it actually is. However, while editing, I was messing with my project when I accidentally closed out of it while trying to exit out of a notification. Not only did I accidentally lose most of my progress, but it also meant that I had to restart the splicing and editing of the three clips. So, I had to remove those clips and redo all of those clips. Also, I had to fix the transitions from the other clips that were next to those clips since they also got messed up. I was filled with r

Yoyoyo!!  Today, I started filming during a similar time to when I initially recorded my clips. I made my sister wear the same thing she had during the other shot. Then, I decided to re-record the opening scene since I wanted the ambient sounds from outside. Before, children were running around and making a ruckus. So, I couldn't use the audio in the first clip. Moving on, I redid the scenes with the cheesecake replacement, using the actual cheesecake I wanted. I did not realize how much of the scenes had the cheesecake in the frame. Despite my sister's constant complaining about redoing the clips, but I made her go through. Throughout the retakes, I think it was funny how I made my sister do a little mukbang. For the difficulties I went through, there was definitely a lot during filming. First, my mother was about to give us the last slices of cheesecake to eat. So, I am very glad I double-checked with her. Second, was the amount of retakes I took when filming. This was due to

Editing Blog: Second half

Image
YOYOYOYOYO!! Today, I edited the second half. This consisted of the scenes inside my bedroom and the stuffed animals. When I was editing it, I remembered that I had to make the voices for the stuffed animals. Unsure of what to do, I listen to animal noises while editing. I tried to look for a good audio to use and take from YouTube... However, nothing I heard seemed good enough. So, I decided to make my own sounds, and it was amazing. But, it started to look a lot like a comedy rather than horror. Which brings me to my new dilemma. To be or not to be, that is the question. Low key, doing a horror comedy would be kind of cute. So, the sounds of the stuffed animals talking were very deep, and demonic muttering that contradicts their appearances. I also made it so it was cursed, adding effects around the stuffies. Then, I added captions with the stuffies so the people who are watching can understand what the stuffies are saying. I decided to use another font for the captions since it loo

Editing Blog: First Half

YOOOOOO!!! So today, I started splicing and editing my clips. I decided to use capcut again since I'm familiar with that app. However, I wanted to see if capcut on the computer was good. So, I decided to use capcut on my macbook for the time being. For today, I decided to do the first half of my video. Tomorrow will be for the second half. Throughout the time I was editing, I tried my best to place the title sequence where it could be seen and read. I switched from black and white so it could be seen despite it being bright or dark. Since I have made a few projects where you could not see the title sequence. Honestly, it was due to the fact that I was very young. As I was editing it, my mommy wanted to see it. When I did, my mom was surprised. But, I told her to trust the process. I also put in the background music, I tried to make it so you can still hear what my sister had to say. Upcoming, I'm not sure what to add to use as the plushy voices, but I know it will be great. Oh,

Filming Blog: Indoors

YO YO YO  For the recording today, I finished up with the filming and the rest of the storyboard. I continued around the same time when I last recorded. However, it turns out that someone ate the last slice of cherry cheesecake. So, I decided to grab a waffle we made in the morning to use instead for the time being. I then made my sister go along with what I had planned, ensuring it was slow enough to put on the title screens. When we were filming, it was hard since sometimes there would be noises in the background from my mother, so I had to redo until there was nothing in the background. When it came to eating the cake, I made my sister eat the waffle. Even though my room is fairly messy, I think it adds to its personality and more reliability. Yes, my mama did try to make me clean it up before we recorded, but I said I will after I was done recording. I decided to go out of order and record all the scenes with my sister, then the stuffies. This was due to the amount of streaming and

Today was fairly simple, I got to work with getting my sister dressed into a decent-looking outfit and made her be my actor again. I started by getting an establishing shot of my house, marking off the list of shots I needed for my film. It was pretty awkward since there were kids playing out when we were filming. It took several tries since they kept getting into the shot. There was this one kid who was trying to ruin the shot on purpose. Which was quite annoying, like, where are your parents. So, I decided to just let them have their fun. The next shot was a tilt-down shot of the actor, my sister, coming onto the screen and walking into the house. As I was mentally taking notes about the shots I needed and how long the clips needed to be, time was ticking and I needed my clips. I had to make sure that the windows, or anything reflective, showed any of their faces. If it did, then I would have to blur it, would be a big hassle. So, I would rather try before I get a passable scene. I h
