Movie Research:

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? I do enjoy realism-induced horror, this is due to my lack of fear of supernatural horror movies. I do find a creative brain blast when I saw the "bond one-liner", it made me start thinking and conjuring up a plan. I also think creating something that'll break old trends to be groundbreaking and very accomplishing to do. What conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you liked? I find the trope of "humans are b*st*rds" to be really interesting, I love to watch horror movies with the same premises. That way, if the person ever gets karma, I could enjoy it instead of being sad. I also enjoy the a-hole victim trope, it really gets you conflicted and constipates their punishment for their wrongdoings. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you, and are you considering not filming for your final task? I hated the attempted grape in the

Movie Research: Slasher Smile

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? I liked the complete monster trope. I feel like it would be fitting if an actual being/monster is the villain and not some person who wants to kill. I also enjoy the paranoia fuel in the movie, it creates an eerie and uncomfortable atmosphere for the viewer even after the movie. What conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you liked? I enjoyed the unintentional uncanny valley, the smiles are iconic and it creates an unsettleness. I also liked the trope of an alternative character interpretation, this really brings out a twist. I enjoy having my mind mangled when the alternative path is revealed.  What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you, and are you considering not filming for your final task? Things I found unpleasing was the narm in the film, I would hate for my film's scenes to be perceived as something it is not supposed to be. Although som

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? I enjoy color-coded characters, this helps the viewer better recognize a character from others. There was also a trope of death by looking up, which I find to have a perfect cut-off. Lastly, there is fear is the appropriate response. I would like for the character(s) in my project to have common sense, I don't like characters with a lack of common sense. What conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you liked? I enjoyed how it included an alien abduction, which plays into the trope people associate with aliens from another planet. It also transformed into a monster horror movie, a bait-and-switch to what it originally portrayed. Instead of many aliens, the saucer is the actual monster. In the end, it has a bittersweet ending. Even though many died, the Haywoods were able to kill the alien and get a picture of it before it died. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that

Genre Decision

Image
For the final task, I've decided to do horror as my genre. This is due to my interest in horror, and how there are different ways for it to be a horror film. Also, I prefer to watch horror films than any other genre. Because honestly, if I had to watch something cliche it would have to be horror. That way, the person who makes a mistake will quickly learn their lesson and never do that again, literally, since they will be deceased.

My Pitch

Image
Pitch A: What would happen if you feed a girl a slice of cake? Pitch B: After a long school day, a break is all a girl needs, but who is behind her? Discuss A: Because of how the pitch can apply to most genres, I feel like it's the best bet. It also allows me to get creative. It will let me stay in one setting throughout the whole duration instead of going to different places. However, it will become a bit too overbearing with all the ideas, I wouldn't know how to make it. This is also gonna have to be weary and make sure I actually have the props I need to create this pitch. Discuss B: Although it's a decent pitch, it's very cliche and not exactly my cup of tea. Also, it is very restricting, and I can't really have a lot of creative ideas with this pitch. However, I do find it interesting how I can create this. It is less creative, but it is a great pitch so I don't go off the rails and lose track of my plot. My final decision: Due to the fact that I prefer one

ROLE CALL

Image
For the movie intro, I have decided to work alone instead of in a group. There were a multitude of reasons why I decided to work alone. This happened because my friends in media studies already had the maximum number of people in their groups. Also, I didn't want to ask people I did not know. Another reason is that I was concerned about not participating enough to the point where I couldn't really talk about the contributions I made to the music video. Even though it may be more difficult since I will have to do all of the work. I think it will be alright since I have adapted to being by myself. Yes, I did want to work in a group, but there's nothing to it if everyone I know already has groups with the maximum amount of people. Besides, it will also give me more freedom when it comes to this and I will not feel awkward or self-conscious about my actions. Also, I'll be able to do my work without being held back or having to do someone's work. The more that I think ab

It's The Final Count Down

Hey, my name is Melissa, but (mostly) everyone calls me Noa. Ever since I was a child, I was reticent and observant. I remember in kindergarten, I would sit in a corner of the playground during recess and wait until it was over. I guess it wasn't normal, since my teacher asked me if I was okay. Throughout my life, I've had a rough time being open to people with my interests and preferences. However, I've gotten better at communication and starting up conversations. My interests are playing mobile games, drawing, reading mangas, and watching anime. When it comes to fears, I am scared of commitment and not being able to satisfy others.  Things I do not like are doing homework, being inefficient, being left out, and bitter melon soup. Something I hate is when someone is not as efficient as me and takes more steps than they need to. In the past, I wanted to be a veterinarian, but my younger self decided to change due to the amount of years you would have to do. But now, I wan
