Movie Research: Slasher Smile
What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?
I liked the complete monster trope. I feel like it would be fitting if an actual being/monster is the villain and not some person who wants to kill. I also enjoy the paranoia fuel in the movie, it creates an eerie and uncomfortable atmosphere for the viewer even after the movie.
What conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you liked?
I enjoyed the unintentional uncanny valley, the smiles are iconic and it creates an unsettleness. I also liked the trope of an alternative character interpretation, this really brings out a twist. I enjoy having my mind mangled when the alternative path is revealed.
What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you, and are you considering not filming for your final task?
Things I found unpleasing was the narm in the film, I would hate for my film's scenes to be perceived as something it is not supposed to be. Although some may could be cute and have a little charm, that is not what I am looking for. I also find one-scene wonders to be a tad out of my preference, I do not like change and hate when someone comes and goes without much impact in the plot or movie.
